Breda Ba.65 with Fiat A.80 RC.41 engine Special Hobby 48053

Afbeelding

1/48 scale
Skill required: Intermediate

Background
The Breda Ba.65 was an all metal single-engine, low wing monoplane used by Aviazione Legionaria during the Spanish Civil War and Regia Aeronautica in the first part of World War II. It was the only Italian ground-attack aircraft that saw active service in this role. It saw service almost exclusively on the North African front. During World War II, the Ba.65 was employed against the British in North Africa. When Italy entered the war in June 1940 about 150 aircraft were reported to be still in service, albeit suffering heavy losses facing the British fighters. Most were either out of service or shot down by February 1941. The aircraft, which had been forcibly kept in service after the failure of the Ba.88 and the poor performances shown by the Caproni Ca.310, was replaced by modified Savoia-Marchetti S.79s or fighters in the dive bomber role.

The kit

Another Special Hobby's release which checks quality of short-runs. In the box you can find 3 big sprues full of high quality parts molded in gray styrene. Details are quite nice and panel lines are very delicate. There are only minor mold excesses on some interior parts

Kit comes with large sheet of PE-parts. There are seatbelts, some details for cockpit and bomb racks.

Engine, engine's cover, exhaust and propeller are casted in resin- there are no air bubbles etc- just excellent

Decals printed by Aviprint (it means that white color will transparent a bit) are for 3 painting schemes

Now let's take a look on fitting. As in most of short-runs there are no pinpoints. Parts of fuselage and wing fit good, but it seems to some putty will be necessary. But not a lot

Conclusion

So far I like this kit, but something more i will say after building.
